Reception Venues

Choosing a reception venue will be a big part of planning your wedding. Some of the things you will need to consider are:
Does your dream venue cater for the numbers that you are planning to invite?
Does it fit into your budget?
What is included in the price? -  Most places should be able to provide a guide to menu prices, drinks packages etc. Find out hidden costs such as room hire, linen charges, service charge and flowers.
Does the style of the venue fit with the style of your wedding – If you want an informal relaxed wedding a very formal restaurant is probably not for you!

Alternatively you may wish to hire a marquee and take more control over your own venue. Don’t forget that most marquee companies do not supply essentials such as toilets. You will need to hire these separately! Caterers can be very flexible over menus and can often work out a cheaper option as far as the food is concerned. You can also supply your own wine at a fraction of the cost of a hotel or restaurant.  However, there can be a lot more work involved for you as the responsibility for all the organisation will fall to you.

Flowers can play an important part in your day. Using flowers which are in season will help to keep the cost down, your florist will advise you as to which flowers are at their best. When choosing a florist ask to see any photos of previous weddings that they have done and also ask if they know the venue that you have chosen. Photographers

Your wedding photos will be some of the most viewed pictures you will ever have. They will take up a large proportion of your budget and you must be careful to choose your photographer wisely.

Recommendation is by far the best way to find a photographer. Ask local friends and family who have recently married who they used and whether they were happy with the service. Ask to see the photos to make sure you like the style -- your friends may have liked their photographer because their style was very formal while you may be looking something different. Personal recommendation from someone who's tried and trusted a photographer is worth its weight in gold.

Be aware that asking a friend to take on the photography could lead to disaster. Unless they have had some sort of experience or training, you might be left with no decent lasting photographs of your big day and you could regret not spending the money after all .
