Fowey River Lions Club organised their first triathlon in September 1984. This was a first for Cornwall, in what were the early days of this exciting sport. This will be the 31st triathalon.
The event has been modified annually and has become an important date for both competitors and the local area.
For a mini-triathlon, the course is considered very challenging and takes in the communities of Polruan, Lostwithiel and Fowey. Competitors start and finish on Fowey Town Quay. The Triathlon course comprises the following:
Swim 600m from Fowey to Polruan : Open Swim
Cycle 29k from Polruan to Lostwithiel : Public Highways
Run 12k from Lostwithiel to Fowey : Public Highways
Any proceeds from the event are donated to charity.
