With the aim of 'taking theatre to the people' Open Road Theatre Company was formed in 2004. Its reputation grew with such diverse plays as 'Educating Rita', 'The Trouble with Ted' and 'Antigone'. ' Lunchtime concert', which came second in the all England One Act Drama Festival 2007 was its last production. Now, after a break of five years, Open Road is on tour again. Cheat the Reaper tells the story of those missing five years.
Kate Bradley's life is turned upside down when her husband Tom is diagnosed with cancer. Ben, their son, is caught in the middle, trying to balance supporting his parents, going to university and the love of Emily.
