Essentials to remember: A light weight water proof clothing. Comfortable/ stout walking shoes/boots. Backpack and drinks container/water
Monday 15th April: Guests arrive at The Metropole Hotel, Padstow. Welcome pack given to all guests on arrival outlining the activities for the 4 days. Guided walks of Padstow available throughout the afternoon. After dinner there will be an optional short walk with John Buckingham, local historian and member of the Padstow museum. Followed by a short talk in the Met Lounge by a local historian.Covering the topic of the history ofPadstow and the Saints Way.
Tuesday 16th April: Breakfast 7:30am – 8:30am, 9am - set off -All walkers to meet at St Petrocs Church to receive a blessing from the vicar in order to bless the travellers a safe and speedy journey. Lunch stop for refreshments on route (Traditional pasty lunch and cream tea)–(venue tbc), allow approx 7-8 hours walking time to reach Lanivet. Mini-bus to then transport walkers back to Padstow for an optional foot rub/ back and/or leg and a leisurely 3 course meal. Pre-order packed lunch will be required this evening for Wednesdays walk.
Wednesday 17th April: Breakfast 7:30 – 8:30am. All walkers to meet at the Metropole hotel at 8:30am prompt to start, hotel guests to pack their luggage (and collect their packed lunch) and all are taken back to Lanivet where the walkers complete the final part of the walk. Luggage is then taken onto The Fowey Hotel and placed in rooms for arrival. Your (well deserved) lunch will be enjoyed at the beautiful town of Lostwithiel. On arrival into Fowey, the walkers will be met by the vicar at Fowey - who will carry out the arrival blessing.
Dinner will be served from 6pm and will include a pilgrim dish on each courseof the evening menu. Complete the meal with a delicious cheese course which will be served at St Fimbarus church, this will include a delicious choice of themed cheese/ olives/ wine and artisan bread of the time whilst watching a presentation by Lynne Goold (the Manager of the Fowey TIC) on ‘The Road to St James’ and the origins of the Saints way. Located at St Fimbarrus Church at 8:30pm, transport will be arranged if wet weather. Talk to take approx 30 – 40 minutes, Q and A session afterwards.
Thursday 18th April: 10:30am until 12 noon: Guided walks of Fowey and Polruan carried out by both Blue Badge guides as well as Fowey Harbour guides. Fire side yarns will be told throughout the afternoon in the 16th century pub, The Ship.
Friday 19th April: Enjoy a hearty breakfast before you head back to Padstow in the organised mini-bus to collect your vehicle.
Caveat to include: A minimum of 14/15 (tbc) walkers will be required in order for this 4 night break to go ahead.
