Cascade holiday cottage is set in a breathtaking location on the banks of the Fowey estuary and within the quaint and pretty village of Golant, an area of outstanding natural beauty, just two miles upriver from the historic coastal town of Fowey.

The accommodation is self-catering, with two large double bedrooms and is ideal for 2 to 4 persons.

The cottage enjoys panoramic and uninterrupted views of the Fowey estuary and its surrounding ancient woodlands.

This is a great base from which to explore the very best of Cornwall.

Golant is known for its wonderful location and stunning views across the Fowey estuary. The tides are continually changing and provide an ever-changing backdrop and a fascination to watch.

The Cottage is set in its own large and established gardens, with its own private steps up to Gumms Lane (providing access to the Golant Downs and the Saints Way, just 30 metres from the cottage) and also private steps down to Water Lane below (providing access to the quay, river and sandbars).

The location will appeal equally to those who wish for a quiet break away to enjoy this most beautiful location as well as those who may seek a more energetic holiday of boating, fishing, walking or the excellent beaches which abound along the South Coast of Cornwall.

The accommodation includes:

Private parking for an estate car or two smaller cars.

Lounge/diner/conservatory & kitchen (all with excellent views).

2 double bedrooms: one with double bed and one with twin beds (bed linen is provided for sheets, pillow cases, duvets and duvet covers). Hypnos double mattress (firm) in the master bedroom.

Double bedroom has its own balcony with magnificent views over the estuary.

Shower room, toilet and basin, plus an additional downstairs toilet. Small hand towels are provided but please bring with you your own bathroom and beach towels.

Combination of night storage heaters plus electric wall mounted panel heaters.

Lounge has two settees plus wall mounted LED TV & DVD player. 
White goods include: washing machine, dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave, oven and hob.

Large private gardens.

Patio area to sit out and enjoy the stunning panoramic views.

Notes on accessibility:

The cottage enjoys its spectacular and uninterrupted views because of its location on a steeply sloping site. However the sloping site may present risks for very young children, or older persons with mobility restrictions, because of the steps down to the cottage plus the drops from the patio and terraced lawn.

The upper access lane to the cottage is narrow and holidaymakers may wish to check beforehand if bringing a particularly large vehicle. As a guide, the lane could be challenging for vehicles wider than a standard sized People Carrier. For holidaymakers who may wish to avoid the upper access lane, there is alternative public parking below the cottage (pay and display) with private steps up to Cascade Cottage.

Map & Directions

Road Directions

Follow the signs into Golant from B3269. Pass the first few houses and you will reach a fork in the road. Left side is marked Church, but please take the right hand fork and drive down into the village centre. At the crossroads turn right and drive forward until the road bends sharply 90 degrees to the left. At this 90 degree bend, drive forward 10 yards or so, and follow the zig zag in the road. Continue along Gumms Lane and you will see Cascade’s sign on the left hand side with plenty of parking for a large estate car or several smaller cars.

Please note that Gumms Lane is quite narrow in places and may prove difficult to navigate with very large vehicles. There is alternative access for very wide vehicles below the cottage on Water Lane.

Public Transport Directions

By train to Par station and then taxi to the village of Golant.
