Between the 5th and the 9th we have the Fowey Classics Boat Rally, this is a small (60-70 boat) rally – a friendly annual gathering of vintage and modern classic sailing boats. This eclectic fleet takes part in various sailing events and there are plenty of social events also. A highlight is the Parade of Sail, which is best viewed from the Town Quay or St Catherine’s Castle, and this year will be featuring the world’s oldest floating boat. We are now selling tickets for The Cologne New Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra’s performance at St Fimbarrus Church on the 15th of August. After a hugely successful appearance last year, they are back performing pieces by Rossini, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Purcel and Pachelbel. Looking forward to September, there will be a weekend of events organised by the Kenneth Grahame Society. Taking place on the 6th and 7th there are various talks in the Billiard Room at the Fowey Hall Hotel, a guided walk and a boat trip, focusing on the writers influences around the area.
