Also coming up is the Fowey Classics Rally 2013. 30th July - 2nd August
Fowey Classics is a small (60 – 70 boat) classic boat rally which has become a very friendly annual gathering of an eclectic fleet of vintage and modern classic sailing boats ranging typically from 12 feet to 12 tons (or more), representing a vibrant diversity of designers stretching back to 1886. In 2008 Fowey Classics attracted seven boats of 100 or more years of age, including Lord St. Levan’s Ceremonial Barge, built in 1740 and believed to be the oldest boat in the world still sailing. This year we are pleased to announce that Gypsy Moth IV will be visiting. Founded in 1991, Fowey Classics takes place at the beginning of August in the beautiful and historic port of Fowey on the south coast of Cornwall. (Lat. 50°21´N, 4°38´W)
Some mildly challenging sailing events are spliced into a varied and convivial shore-based social programme which is centered around the two yacht clubs in Fowey, the Royal Fowey YC and Fowey Gallants SC.
Old Fowey hands already know that the combination of beautiful yachts and friendly participants, in one of the West Country’s most outstandingly attractive natural harbours, makes Fowey Classics a very relaxed and enjoyable sailing event with it’s own special ethos.
