This Month in Fowey
The 12th Annual Daphne du Maurier Literary Festival is with us once again and as usual there is a great selection of walks, talks, music, theatre and much, much more. Some events have already sold out but there are still tickets available for many of the events. Our weekly Town Walks continue, meeting on the Town Quay every Tuesday at 11am, you can enjoy a leisurely two hour stroll, whilst hearing a history of the ancient seaport with one of our Blue Badge guides, Nancy or Lynn. If you wish to book in advance, call us here at the TIC on 01726 833616, tickets are £3.50 for adults and £1.50 for children.
The tides are right for a Wind in the Willows Cruise on the 18th May. Starting from the Town Quay at 4pm, you can enjoy a gentle cruise up river to the village of Lerryn where you will have time for a stroll or a delicious cream tea before returning to Fowey. Accompanied by a Blue Badge Guide you can learn about Kenneth Grahame and how he was inspired by the area to write his famous book. The trip lasts two and a half-hours at a cost of £10.25 for adults and £6 for adults. Advance booking is essential so please call us here at the TIC.
Looking ahead to June, The Fowey River Lions present 60’s Music in the Park. Why not bring a picnic along to Boconnoc Estate, Lostwithiel for an evening of entertainment from, amongst others, Europe’s No1. Tribute band The Rolling Clones. Tickets in advance are £15 for adults, £10 for under 12’s and free for under 5’s. It all happens on the 13th June and the gates open at 5pm, Ticket Hotline 01726 819290. The event is in aid of the Children’s Hospice South West Precious Lives Appeal.
