Fowey Christmas Market
Around the first weekend of December the beautiful seaside town of Fowey hosts a weekend of festive entertainment, food and drink along with plenty of opportunities to pick up some great Christmas gifts. It is now in it's 10th year and continues to go from strength to strength
The timetable of events for the 2014 Market have now been confirmed. Beginning around 5.30 on Friday 5th December, there’s a BBQ on the riverfront at Berrils Yard, with carol singing from Fowey Town Choir. Father Christmas arrives in style by boat and leads the Fowey Town Band and Fowey Academy Samba Band through the town ending up outside the church. The children's Christmas hats will be judged at 6.45 and the town’s Christmas lights will be switched on at around 7pm after which the evening continues with a Hog Roast nearby and carol singing led by the Town Choir. Many of the local shops will be open for the duration and will close around 7.30.
Saturday 6th December sees the opening of the market at 10am, continuing on Sunday 7th December, you’ll find a wealth of traditional and Cornish traders, offering all kinds of gifts, art and craft as well as delicious local food and drink, all complementing Fowey’s eclectic range of quality eateries, boutiques and art galleries. Santa will be stetting up his grotto on Webb Street and there will also be various entertainers including the Champagne Chorus, 1940's crooner Andy Marshall Fowey River Singers and Louella Jade Eke performing around the town, a hog roast and the vicar serving mulled wine and chestnuts. There will be a children's willow lantern parade on Saturday afternoon, apot the Sheep competition and much more
The Fowey Christmas Market has been an unqualified success since its inception in 2005. Fowey is a wonderful place to do all your Christmas shopping, with a fantastic range of unique little independent shops, great restaurants, hotels, guest houses, and above all, amazing views. With the huge range of seasonal products on offer at the Market, plus the many places to eat and drink around the town, this a Christmas shopping experience not to be missed.
As well as the bustling marquees on the Town Quay there is also a second market place at Fowey Leisure Centre. Fowey Town Bus will be running a shuttle service between the two sites so you can enjoy all Fowey has to offer on this splendid festive weekend.
