On The Water in & around Fowey
The Fowey Estuary is a water-borne lover's paradise! As the deepest port between Falmouth and Plymouth, there is 24/7 access to the sea from the lower estuary at all states of the tide. Add to this the beautiful setting (the estuary is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), with lots of wooded creeks to explore, and you have the ideal combination.
Novices can enjoy the estuary safely, kayaking, SUPing, sailing, fishing or cruising along in a by-the-hour self drive motor boat. Whilst more experienced boat owners can launch and be out to sea whenever they wish or take a leisurely trip inland along the Fowey river with the tide up to Golant, Lerryn or Lostwithiel.
If you are feeling more adventurous and would like to go out to seas, you can take the ferry across the bay to Mevagissey. You might even be accompanied by dolphins! If you would like to improve your seafaring skills, you can join one of the RYA approved training schools and take part in one of a large range of courses.
There are lots of businesses based in and around the area to help you get the most from this most unique of water-borne holiday paradises!
