You can decide to take heating from the modern night-storage heater with its built in convector heater or settle down by the wood burning stove. A free supply of wood is provided. If nothing grabs you on the flat-screen TV or DVD player, then you might feel inclined to check out the owl cam located within the purpose built nest box. This is situated in the gable-end loft space of the building. The kitchen is fully fitted with a natural gas cooker, an oven, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. There is a digital radio and microwave oven. Four skylights keep the area nice and bright even on a dark day. The dining/ living area has a dining table with four chairs and two sofas all on oak flooring. For your comfort both bathrooms are electrically heated via towel rails and underfloor heating. Primrose is a single-storey barn conversion with 3 bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, the main one having a bath with overhead shower. Both bathrooms have underfloor heating. There is a large open plan living area with slate flooring throughout. The kitchen is fully fitted and has a range cooker and large fridge/freezer. Whilst not having direct sea views, there are beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and an enclosed private courtyard. Both properties have 100% cotton towels and linen is provided. The Fowey estuary has great sheltered paddling and the nearby beaches of Polkerris and Porthpean provide opportunities for visiting Cornish coves and seeing wildlife. The house has a garage for storing all your paddleboards and kayaks as well as outside and inside drying facilities for wetsuits and kit. The Fowey main launch point for paddling is less than 1km from the house. We recommend Encounter Cornwall for trips and lessons and can even help you plan your paddles and itinerary if you wish. NB Due to steep steps and a garden balcony this property isn't suitable for children under 8 or those who have difficulties with steps. All young children should be supervised at all times.

It is also a fun-filled week for all the family – sailors and landlubbers alike. What happens? Fowey is one of the country’s best-loved Regattas, attracting thousands of visitors who enjoy the varied programme with plenty of childrens activities. Live music every day on Town Quay. The Regatta is also one of the UK’s most famous sailing events. There’s a full programme of races, including the famous Troys, a class of sailing boat built only in Fowey. As well as the regatta there will be traditional favourites like the Carnival procession, Giant Pasty ceremony, Flora Dance, classic car rally, fireworks displays, crab-catching competition, swimming races, pasty-eating competition - and of course Fowey Town Band. A week of memories to treasure forever! How can you take part? Over the many years the Regatta has been running, the regatta has attracted many visitors, including Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and Queen Elizabeth II and is recommended as a must see event by Debrett’s, the authority on all matters of taste. Fowey’s location, perched above a magnificent harbour, provides a natural arena to watch the sailing from and in the town’s winding old streets you’ll find plenty of activities to entertain. There’s the traditional crowning of the carnival queen followed by the floral dance, you can compete in the crab catching and swimming competitions, experience the giant pasty ceremony, get caught up in the exuberance of the carnival, watch the magical torch light dinghy procession on the water and spend the evenings on the harbour listening to performances ranging from The Last Night of the Proms to rock. Did you know? Fowey’s famous eight foot long giant pasty ceremoniously makes its way over the harbour from Polruan to the town quay in Fowey by boat, accompanied by the Fowey Town Band, a ramshackle bunch of less than musical musicians. The magnificent culinary offering is then cut and distributed to all the children present.
