Our pioneering project relies on solar power and battery storage and our own logs for heating. The ideal retreat for walkers, cyclists, kayakers, artists, writers, photographers and nature lovers. There are 4 comfortable twin or king ensuite bedrooms , each with a private outdoor seating area overlooking the Estuary, organic bed linen, underfloor heating, rain head showers, and upcycled furnishings. There is also a spacious, open plan self catering apartment for 2 or 3 people, which can be converted to a meeting room/classroom. We also have introduced a completely offgrid tiny handmade Pod in the trees for those guests who want to be even more adventurous! Various footpaths connect you to Fowey, Lostwithiel and the Saints Way. Get close to estuary wildlife on a kayak or paddle board trip with Encounter Cornwall, or bring your own and we can advise you on the best routes to take. Spot kingfishers and herons and let owls and curlews serenade you to sleep. A few minutes walk downhill is the Fisherman’s Arms pub where you will find a warm welcome and good home cooked food. We can also introduce you a local therapist for a range of relaxing treatments. We have no WiFi or TVs as we want to preserve the tranquility, but 4G is available. We are also up a very steep, narrow track, although parking is available halfway up, it is a steep walk uphill to the building (and even higher uphill for the Pod!). Our rooms are normally booked on a Bed & Breakfast basis, but The Sanctuary is also available for residential courses and small groups - please get in touch if we can help.
