Kenneth Grahame found inspiration to write the Wind in the Willows on this stretch of the Fowey estuary. At the head of a tranquil wooded creek you will find the delightful village of Lerryn. Truly a hidden gem, this tiny and unspoilt village is the perfect spot for lunch, a pint or cream tea on the village green. Hop across the river on stepping stones, watch the wildlife or hire a kayak to explore this lovely creek. You could also book a river cruise to Lerryn (departure days restricted due to tidal conditions).
Nearby is the hamlet of St Winnow with its beautiful church which lies right on the riverside. The farm sometimes provides tea and snacks using their own produce, making for the perfect pit stop on a long walk.
