Get ready for Christmas
This December why not head along to the Boconnoc Estate to take part in some festive workshops, and as Christmas draws closer come listen to a beautiful candle-lit evening filled with captivating music from the magnificent Canoryon Lowen choir.
November 24th: Aromatherapy Workshop
Learn how to make your own aromatherapy and essential oils this Christmas. Aromatherapy uses essential oils to naturally promote wellbeing within the mind and body, aiding sleep, boosting your immune system and uplifting your mood are just some of the amazing benefits.
Kit Clancy welcomes you to join her for a calming and creative workshop at Boconnoc; teaching you the skills you need to create your own aromatherapy bath and body oils. This interactive session will begin with an introduction to aromatherapy and essential oils, learning how they are made, the specific properties and the benefits of using the oils. You’ll then be guided through making your own bath/body oil (100ml) using organic essential oils.
The session will give you the knowledge and confidence to make your own aromatherapy oils from scratch. The perfect gift this Christmas for a loved one (or yourself).
December 1st: Indian Head Massage Workshop
This candle-lit head massage workshop offers you the chance to receive, learn and share a simple Indian Head Massage routine in a calm and welcoming space, and equips you with the skills you need to offer head massage as a zero-waste gift to your loved ones this Christmas.
You will be welcomed with a glass of mulled apple juice, then working with your partner, you’ll be guided through a simple head massage routine which one person will offer to the other. After a pause for refreshments, you’ll swap over with your partner so that both have learnt and received the techniques during the session.
We ask that people book this workshop in pairs to work with each other – friends, parents, siblings, partners, and children age 12+ are welcome to attend as the partner of their parent/carer. You will be wrapped in blankets to keep warm, no oils are used and no prior experience is required. Please note that participants will be fully clothed throughout this workshop.
December 2nd: Seasonal Wreath Making Workshop
Join us for a seasonal wreath making workshop hosted by the super talented Rebecca Stuart from The Garden Gate Flower co. Forage in the beautiful grounds of Boconnoc for leaves, ferns and foliage before heading to the candle lit Stable Yard to create your own beautifully festive wreath. Everything will be provided for you to make your own door wreath and Rebecca will guide you through the step-by-step process to create something you truly love.
We think this workshop would be a lovely activity to do with a friend or family member, get together, share a fun morning creating and reconnecting with nature.
Tea, coffee and delicious homemade mince pies will be provided.
December 20th: Carols by Candlelight
Come and enjoy a beautiful candle-lit evening filled with captivating music from the magnificent Canoryon Lowen choir, who are enjoying their 20th Anniversary Year, having been formed in the village of St Neot by Nick and Jenny Hart.
Guests will be seated in the atmospheric Smoking Room at Boconnoc House
Originally a choir of 16 members, Canoryon Lowen has allowed its membership to grow to the mid-thirties, with evenly balanced numbers in all sections, with singers drawn from a wide area. Janet Wright has joined the musical team and co-directs with Nick.
This much travelled choir has sung in Prague, Florence, Venice, Cortina, Cork, Cobh, Lorient, as well as Coventry Cathedral and venues all over Devon and Cornwall. It has received commissions for new works by both the Royal Cornwall Museum and the National Maritime Museum, for which it has received prestigious awards from the Cornish Gorsedh. Nick was made a Bard of the Gorsedh for creativity in music, for his opera “A Daughter’s Tale”.
Doors open at 7.00pm with the concert starting at 7.30pm.
Each half will be approximately 40 minutes with a 20 minute interval where guests can enjoy delicious homemade mince pies and festive treats.
Proceeds from tickets sales for this event will be split evenly between Boconnoc Church and the charity MIND
MIND campaign to raise awareness and offer support for anyone struggling with their mental health.
