About

Following the success of our Cornwall Rocks music festival in Looe in November 2019, Solid Entertainments is very pleased to announce that Looe Blues, Rhythm & Rock Festival will be held at Tencreek Holiday Park in Looe in March 2021

The line-up for our first cross genre indoor music festival is something special.  Three headlines acts that are so well known they need little introduction, but just in case; The Animals & Friends, (their farewell tour) Martin Turner Ex Wishbone Ash, The Blockheads plus a mix of contemporary artists that are sure to impress live music lovers, whatever their taste!

The full line-up over the three days is as follows:

FRIDAY - The animals & Friends  Dani Wilde • Matt Pearce & The Mutiny • Born Healer  Big Joe Bone  Guest Act to be Announced

In 1964 a wave of new energetic rock and roll swept over the youth of the world.  On the crest of this wave was The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and of course The Animals.  From the banks of the River Tyne came the North East's offering; a brand of rhythm n blues that the whole world seemed to grasp greedily.  Let us not forget that it was Bob Dylan’s ‘House of the Rising Sun’ that so inspired this legendary band to record what history has shown to be the definitive take and here is it is performed in 2019 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SVgomDK2-B0

SATURDAY – Martin Turner Ex Wishbone Ash • Chantel McGregor • Backbone Blues Band • John Verity Band • Southbound • Albany Down

Wishbone Ash was formed by West Country musicians Martin Turner and Steve Upton, who arrived in London in 1969 to embark on their musical journey.  In recent years Martin Turner has delighted audiences worldwide with his performances of material from the classic periods of Wishbone Ash’s history.  Martin’s 2020 touring continues his exploration of the Wishbone Ash catalogue and you can have a look and listen to them playing the classic The King Will Come athttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K9kNXf4Qavo&list=RDK9kNXf4Qavo&start_radio=1

SUNDAY – The Blockheads • The Cinelli Brothers • Zoe Schwarz Blue Commotion  Blues Engine • Grizzly Rhys Morgan •Guest Act to be Announced

Rarely off the road since the demise of Ian Dury in 2000, but now with Derek Hussey fronting the band, The Blockheads are still one of the most underrated British bands of all time, with a legion of fans of all ages.  The Blockheads are fronted by Derek ‘The Draw’ Hussey, and Chaz Jankel, Norman Watt-Roy, John Turnbull and Mick Gallagher still remain from the original band.  The current line-up is augmented by John Roberts on drums and a rolling line up of saxophonists that includes Gilad Atzmon, Terry Edwards and Dave Lewis.  The Blockheads doing a selection of songs live https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIcACuIauPU

Situated in a beautiful part of the country, Tencreek Holiday Park is set in glorious countryside with stunning views of the sea and excellent facilities just outside the Cornish seaside town of Looe and nearby fishing village of Polperro.  So before the music starts each day why not take a walk around town or visit the beautiful bays in the area, with secluded coves and wide stretches of golden sand and crashing surf.

With accommodation for the weekend being just a short walk from the music you won’t need to worry about booking that taxi to take you home or to a hotel at the end of each night.  Also parking is free for the weekend - so you don’t have to worry about where you leave your car.  No need to search for food and drinks on the day either, there will be a range of alcoholic/non-alcoholic beverages, real ales available and a varied menu that should meet everyone's taste!

So whether you’re local to Cornwall, travelling from the other side of the country or overseas to be with us, you’ll only have to focus on the music and enjoying yourself.
